A few years ago, I began making decorative and functional art from discarded palmetto fronds, creating vases, sconces, and picture frames. While palmettos seem chaotic from afar, up close I notice their order and symmetry, which I highlight in my work as a tribute to nature’s design as seen in this South Carolina icon.
