Changing the illumination can change the visual aspects of any object – the appearance is determined by how the object reflects light. The illumination can be changed in several ways that directly impact how the light is reflected. When I consider a design for one of my creations, I consider how it might be illuminated when displayed, or whether illumination should even be considered. I prefer light with a cooler temperature, but directionally, I have no preference. It is an advantage to be able to vary intensity depending on ambient light. Some creations offer more than one illumination option, as evidenced in the following photograph. The image on the left demonstrates illumination of the vase from within, accomplished with LED light strips. The image on the right demonstrates uplighting from a lighted pedestal.
